Corker on feud with Trump: 'I think that's old'

WASHINGTON _ Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker said reports of his frayed relationship with President Donald Trump are old news.

Corker traveled with Trump on Air Force One when the president traveled to Nashville for a speech on Monday and responded to a question from Nashville's News Channel 5 about their relationship.

"I think that's old," he said. "I don't think people realize how much interaction we have. I don't think they realize how much we talk with each other each week, with his family members."

Corker, who is retiring after his term expires in 2019, has previously criticized Trump, with the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee previously saying he did not think Trump demonstrated "stability" or "competence."

Corker also tweeted in October that the White House had become "an adult day care center."

Trump in response tweeted Corker "begged" Trump to endorse him for re-election before he announced he would not run. He had also taken to calling Corker "Liddle Bob Corker."

But Corker said he regularly interacts with members of the Trump administration, such as National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster.

"I've got breakfast in the morning with (Secretary of State) Rex Tillerson. I talked yesterday with the national security adviser," he said. "Again, I don't think people realize the amount of interaction we have."

Corker said he and the president talked about foreign policy issues on their flight to Nashville.

Before their feud, Corker and Trump were friendly on the campaign trail, with Corker being considered as a potential running mate or secretary of state and stumping for Trump in neighboring North Carolina.
