Cork woman who forgot to lock car left bamboozled after coming back to find someone's groceries in it

A woman who forgot to lock her car in East Cork was left bamboozled after returning to her vehicle to find someone else's groceries in it.

Karen Gallogley had a strange day after noticing the two bags that were left in her boot after she parked up by Barry's Lane in Youghal and went to Merrick's to get a few bits.

This mysterious person got into her car after she wandered off in Youghal. However, they didn't take anything or cause any damage.

After the surreal incident, Karen now wants to reunite them with their shopping.

Community radio station Cry Youghal put out the appeal to see if they can find the mystery person, and thankfully this story has a happy ending as the silly shopping-dropping billy got in contact!

Speaking to CorkBeo before finding the owner, Karen said she'd only been gone around 15 minutes, and that none of the cars parked near her looked anything like hers.

She said: "I parked on Barry's Lane just by Moby Dicks and was only gone for 15-20 minutes.

"When I got back I saw some bags in the boot and thought 'what the heck is that?' and I open it and here's these two bags from Tesco. There's quite heavy stuff in it.

"There was a six-pack of water, cans of 7up, and Fanta. There were ice-creams too.

"I'm worried it might belong to a pensioner, or maybe a teenager was told to put it in the car and then they went off and the family won't realise there's no stuff until later.

"None of the other cars had changed since I was there, and none of them looked like mine."

Karen went on to say she kept all the good safe, and that everyone got a good laugh out of it all.

"I've put all the stuff in my fridge at home and I'm ready to give back and deliver to whoever owns it.

"My teenage daughter thinks it's the funniest thing ever, it's definitely a strange one.

"I've got onto Cry Youghal so hopefully they can help. We'll see how it all pans out now."
