A Cork woman visiting the grave of her recently-deceased mother was left "horrified" after seeing a couple having sex in the graveyard.
The woman, who did not want to be named, condemned the behaviour as "shameful carry-on".
She saw two people appearing to have sexual intercourse on a grave at St Michael's cemetery in Blackrock on Tuesday evening.
After recording video of the couple in the hope of embarrassing them out of the activity, the woman sent footage to the Neil Prendeville Show on Red FM but did not want to go on air, CorkBeo reports
"I visited my mother’s grave last night in St Michael’s graveyard and came across two people having sex on a grave," the woman said in a written message to the radio show.
"I was horrified but they didn’t seem to care. If it had been my mother’s grave I wouldn’t have been responsible for what I would have done. I took out my phone in the hope it would shame them.
"This was 7.15 pm. It was an absolute disgrace, dogs wouldn’t behave like that. I have only buried my mother, it was shameful carry on in our graveyard."
A spokesperson for St. Michael's cemetery had not seen the video but had heard about it and confirmed to Cork Beo that there are seven cameras in place in the cemetery but they are mainly focused in the front of the site as there is no power source at the far side of the graveyard.
The calls to introduce so-called 'grave cams' were raised at a council meeting several years ago in an attempt to combat anti-social behaviour in local cemeteries and there are now cameras in place at a number of graveyards in Cork city.
