Cork teenager Tyreik Wright set to make Aston Villa debut against Liverpool tonight

Cork teenager Tyreik Wright could be set to make his Aston Villa debut tonight against Liverpool.

After a Covid-19 outbreak within the Villa squad caused the club to close down their training ground this week, they are set to hand a host of debuts to their U23 squad against the Premier League champions.

And among their youth ranks, an Irish winger could be given the nod to make his first senior appearance for the Birmingham club.

19-year-old Wright, who plays on the right wing, could be set to feature in the FA Cup clash this evening.

The Ireland underage star joined from Lakewood in Ireland in 2018 and he's been a mainstay in the under-23 setup ever since.

Wright's heavily left-footed who liked to play from the right.

He's represented the Republic of Ireland's under-19s and has five goals from nine caps for the Boys in Green.

This season Wright's played 14 times for Villa, scored twice and assisted three times.

Wright may not be the only Corkman to feature this evening as Caoimhin Kelleher looks set to start in goal for the Reds.

Kelleher impressed Jurgen Klopp after stepping in for a number of games before Christmas as first choice Allisson recovered from an injury.
