The shop that sold the winning €5.3million Lotto ticket will split the winnings with staff in a kind gesture.
The Centra Store in Innishannon, Co Cork, sold the lucky €6 Quick Pick on Saturday.
The shop will receive €15,000 from the National Lottery for selling the ticket and owner Barry O’Sullivan has said the money will be shared between the staff.
He told John Paul McNamara on C103’s Cork Today show he wanted to reward staff for all their hard work.
Mr O’Sullivan added: “We are a tight community, it will be a special bonus to those part-time staff who are students.
"Speculation is rife though and one local customer said he is going to play a prank and rent an expensive car for a few days and drive it around Innishannon so everyone will think it is him who has won.
“Whoever the winner is though, we wish them every bit of luck enjoying this life-changing win.”
But Lotto chiefs are still waiting to hear from the lucky player, who is the seventh jackpot winner of the year.
A spokesman for the National Lottery said: “The National Lottery are still waiting to hear from the lucky ticketholder of this truly incredible prize.
“It is possible that the winner is still unaware that they may be in possession of the winning ticket so we are encouraging anybody who has a ticket, to check it carefully and to contact our prize claims team.
“However, it is still early days in terms of the winner making contact.
“This person or people have 90 days to claim the prize from the date of the draw so I’m sure we will hear something from this lucky ticketholder sooner rather than later.”
