Cork Senior Camogie Championship quarter-final postponed due to Covid-19 concern

The Cork Senior Camogie Championship quarter-final between Glen Rovers and Inniscarra has been postponed over Covid-19 fears.

It is understood that a player from one of the teams has been tested for coronavirus after becoming unwell.

Inniscarra confirmed that all of their games scheduled for Sunday have been postponed.

They said in a statement: "All our fixtures today are cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and will be rescheduled as soon as possible."

This weekend's Offaly Senior Camogie Championship clash between St Rynaghs and Birr was also postponed over Covid-19 fears.

The sides were due to meet in the semi-final stage of the competition, but the game was called off after someone tested positive for coronavirus after having close contact with St Rynaghs' players.

Offaly Camogie said in a statement: "We became aware this evening of a confirmed case of covid 19 which had close contact with players on a team.

"In the interest of the safety of players and management of Birr and St Rynaghs a decision has been taken to postpone the Birr v St Rynaghs semi final.

"I'm sure all can appreciate why this decision was taken and we wish all involved a speedy recovery."

It comes after a Leitrim GAA club suspended all activities for 48 hours over Covid-19 fears.

The Kiltubrid club made the decision after a member of both their GAA and LGFA sides was identified as a close contact to someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

They said in a statement on Thursday night: "As a precautionary measure, all activity within Kiltubrid GAA and LGFA at both underage and adult levels has been suspended.

"This is due to one member of both clubs today being identified as a close contact of an individual who has tested positive for Covid-19.

"We will update all club members of any developments of the above over the next 48 hours."
