Cork restaurant Tequila Jack's unveil unique 'dining pods' experience

A Cork restaurant is about to change the game with a weird and wonderful new way to dine out later this month.

Three bubbles have been generating a lot of curiosity outside Tequila Jack’s and the city centre eatery is set to open them for bookings of up to six people.

The pods, which are sitting right on Lapp’s Quay, will have tables installed inside them so customers can enjoy margaritas right on top of the river regardless of the weather, Cork Beo reports.

Manager Chris Crowley said the pods are the first of their kind in Ireland and are just one of a number of innovative measures businesses have embraced since the pandemic.

Chris said: “They’ll be for bookings only, you’ll be able to book them through our website and they’ll be open the same time as we are. From Thursday to Sunday.

“We can’t give away too much for the moment, we’re expecting to have them kitted out next week and we’re hoping to have them open to the public by the end of the month.

“We’ve had a lot of interest already. The guys we brought in to do the initial construction were inundated with people asking them what’s going on.

"There's definitely been a lot more interest than we initially thought.

"They seat up to eight, but with the current regulations we'll only be allowing six."

The restaurant is famed for its delicious cocktails and Mexican flavours with head chef Patryk Baranowski regularly lauded for the quality of his dishes.

It's an exciting time for customers who'll be flocking to get a look at the unique pods which won't be found anywhere else in the country.

Chris and the rest of the team are hoping they'll carry the same ambient atmosphere as the restaurant's interior - and are thrilled to bring something a little different to the city.
