Cork punter makes daring €25,000 bet on Donald Trump - and the odds aren't great

An Irish punter has made an audacious €25,000 bet on Donald Trump to get re-elected.

The Cork gambler placed the bet on the 73-year-old to win the 2020 Presidential Election at odds of 10/11.

The bold stake comes as pressure was being piled on Trump by the House of Representatives - which is looking to get him impeached.

But if the bet, placed at a Paddy Power shop on Wednesday, comes off, he'll bag a sweet €47,700.

A spokesman said: "This superfan is clearly confident all will remain peachy for President Trump.

"It’s the single biggest bet we have seen on market to date, giving me one more reason to cry like a giant angry baby if he’s re-elected."

Joe Biden is 6/1 to be elected, while Bernie Sanders is the third favourite with odds of 8/1.

Paddy Power also said it's facing a six-figure payout if he dodges impeachment.

But its spokesman added: "If Donald Trump becomes the third US President to be impeached, the sound you’ll hear is the cacophony of champagne corks being fired into the Dublin sky over Power Tower - despite the financial loss."
