Cork primary school confirms coronavirus case but school to operate as normal

A Cork city primary school has confirmed a coronavirus case within their "school community".

The principal of the school informed parents on Monday morning that a case had been identified.

As a result all those considered close contacts have been given the necessary advice and asked to stay away from school for the recommended time.

However the school is able to operate as normal with no classes asked to stay home in full.

A letter to parents reads: "I wish to inform you that we have a confirmed case of Covid-19 within our school community. "

The principal goes on to say that all people who were at risk of catching the virus had been contacted and if they have not can send their kids to school as normal.

This is one of a number of schools that has had confirmed cases in the last week or so since all schools reopened.

A number of schools in Dublin, Kerry, Meath and Clare have had to take similar measures.

No school has yet had to take any drastic measures however after wider transmission within the school community.
