Cork need to get in the faces of Dublin, says James Loughrey

Ask James Loughrey what Cork want to be able to say about themselves when the Super 8s ends and you'd get a quick answer.

"That we've qualified," said the experienced defender. "Simple as that."

First up, though, is the five in a row chasing Dublin team that he has huge admiration for. What stands out for Loughrey is the Dubs' ability to keep mistakes to a minimum and their grasp of the basics.

"If you go through the players they have, they've got a couple of top, top, top players who would walk into teams of any era," he remarked.

"But then they have a lot of players who are top, top quality players, but what are their attributes? They just rarely make mistakes.

"They're incredibly fit, they often make the right decision...all basic, basic stuff but if you watch any football, hurling, basketball, soccer match, it just isn't done that often.

"The only way you can increase their mistakes is by putting them under pressure. We're not going to sit back, you have to press them and get in their faces."

And the fact that James McCarthy and Jonny Cooper will be missing for Dublin? "Their bench is just as formidable as well, but they're two top quality players," acknowledged Loughrey.
