Cork mum-of-two who died in Climb with Charlie event was 'adored' by her kids who were on hike with her

A fundraiser has been launched to help the children of tragic mother Cora O'Grady - as the funeral details for the Mitchelstown native have been released.

Cora passed away after becoming ill while on Galtymore on Saturday in the middle of a Climb with Charlie fundraising event.

The Irish Community Air Ambulance attended at the scene. Paramedics battled to save her, but the mother-of-two was declared dead at the scene at 2pm.

Now, a fundraising page has been set up to help Cora's two kids, Luke and Lilly, who were taking part in the climb alongside her.

The page, set up by two other Mitchelstown locals, reads: "Cora adored her two children and devoted every waking hour to them. They were her life. All funds raised will help support Cora's two wonderful children, Luke and Lilly."

In less than 12 hours, over €10,000 has already been raised.

Cora's funeral mass will take place later in the week.

Her death notice reads: "Reposing at the Chapel of Rest, Baldwin Street, Mitchelstown on Wednesday (6th April) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cora's funeral cortege will leave The Chapel of Rest on Friday (8th April) and travel via Baldwin Street and Lower Cork Street, on its way to the Church of Mary Conceived Without Sin, Mitchelstown, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery."

Tributes have poured in to the 'beautiful' and 'gentle' woman online.

One reads: "I watched you growing up next door to us into the beautiful caring person you became. My heart goes out to your beautiful children."

A second says: "Her first greeting every time was her smile, then followed by her sense of humour. I can only imagine what a wonderful Mother and Friend she was to Luke & Lily."

While a third wrote: "Cora was always a special person , selfless , gentle and very funny with an endearing sense of humour that made her one of life's good people. It was a pleasure to have held her hand and shared many laughs together when we were younger."
