Cork footballers hit with league blow as Brian Hartnett picks up two-match suspension

Brian Hartnett is out of the Cork footballers' remaining Division 2 South group fixtures after picking up a two game ban.

The former under-20 All-Ireland winner was sent off in injury time at the end of last week's league opener against Kildare in Thurles.

Hartnett was dismissed for an off-the-ball striking offence and the Douglas clubman is out of tomorrow's encounter with Laois and the Clare game next week.

Cork's campaign got off to a losing start against the Lilywhites, going down 2-12 to 0-14 at Semple Stadium, with their manager Ronan McCarthy only back at the helm a few days following his three-month ban.
