Cork fire brigade units rush to rescue incident at River Lee overnight

A man was pulled to safety from the River Lee in Co Cork on Monday night after being spotted by passersby.

Multiple units of the Cork City Fire Brigade, along with an ambulance and gardai were called to the incident along the city's quays.

Firefighters entered the water to help pull the man ashore before he was transported to hospital, CorkBeo reports.

The man was not believed to be seriously injured and should make a full recovery in the coming days.

A spokesperson for Cork City Fire Brigade said: "Last night crews from Anglesea St and Ballyvolane rescued a person from the river in the city centre.

"Swiftwater Rescue trained firefighters entered the water and removed the person to safety. Great teamwork with NASCork and Gardai to deal with incident."
