Cork double murder: Third man found dead after Garda manhunt following horror killing of two brothers

A man has been found in a Cork river hours after the killing of two brothers in a horror attack.

After a major manhunt in Corroghorm, Mitchelstown, officers recovered the body of a man from the river in a remote location.

The man's identity has not yet been confirmed, but it's believed the discovery is linked to the deaths reported this morning.

Gardai attended the scene at around midnight yesterday after a woman reported that her father had been killed at the farmhouse.

Upon arrival, officers found the body of a man in his 60s in the farmyard.

After a further search, gardai found a second man dead in a shed on the property.

The bodies of the two men remain at the scene, with Dr Margot Bolster, the assistant State pathologist, due to attend the scene ahead of post-mortem examinations to be carried out later at Cork University Hospital.

The Toyota Corolla was subsequently found at an unconnected farmhouse at Killacluig, Mitchelstown.

The episode took place at a small farm in the area, leaving locals in the area reeling.

The third brother – the subject of a major search by gardai after his siblings were found dead – is described as having been something of a recluse, who was known in the area but who kept to himself.

One of the two deceased men is understood to also have lived at the property where the horror killings took place.

Frank O'Flynn told the Irish Mirror: "It's a very nice, quiet, closely-knit area.

"This is the last thing you'd expect.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time."

It's understood that the killing is unlikely to have taken place in a dispute over land, given that the farm itself is believed to be very small.

The episode exploded into the headlines this morning when gardai appealed for help tracking down the missing red van.

Members of the public were urged to ring 999 with any information, but advised not to approach the vehicle.
