Cork City Women's star gets letter of support from Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin

Cork City star Shaunagh McCarthy has been offered some words of encouragement by Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin after suffering an ACL injury.

Arsenal full-back Bellerin, a massive star in the Premier League, penned a letter of support and sent it to McCarthy to urge her to remain positive.

He wrote: "Dear Shaunagh, I have recently been informed of your injury. I am so sorry to hear this and on behalf of everyone at Arsenal Football Club, I send you best wishes.

"No words are enough in this situation but I urge you to be as strong and positive as possible.

"I always think that in life and in sport, you will face many challenges along your personal journey, but it's very important to remain strong, positive and focused on your recovery.

"On behalf of the players, staff and management at Arsenal Football Club, once again I send you best wishes for a bright and happy future and thank you for your personal support, which I truly appreciate."

Hector Bellerin is well aware of the difficulty of returning from an ACL injury.

The Arsenal full-back has been out of action for the last nine months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Chelsea in January.
