Cork City offer Nigerian youngster a trial if he gets 50k retweets - and he gets them

Neale Fenn is only a handful of days in the job at Cork City, but he looks to already have his first recruit lined up - albeit reluctantly so.

The club promised a Nigerian youngster a trial after he reached out to the club on social media, but on the condition that he racks up some 50,000 retweets.

And in a startling example of the power of social media, he managed to accumulate the massive number and the club have reached out to him.

Richard Allison, a Nigerian-based footballer, pleaded with followers to help him out in a bid to get his trial with the League of Ireland club after he asked the club on twitter.

The club replied with the wager, and have since joked on the platform about the saga before confirming that they will give him a trial.

The club later revealed that they've emailed the player in a bid to help with his visa process.
