Cork City announce July 26 date for virtual Liam Miller Memorial Run

Cork City have announced that this year’s Liam Miller Memorial Run will take place on July 26.

But if the 5k event - in partnership with Marymount Hospice - cannot go ahead because of Covid-19, a virtual race will take place with participants asked to submit their times.

Former Ireland, Manchester United, Celtic, Sunderland and Cork City midfielder Miller died from cancer, aged 36, in 2018.

Cork City Chairman Declan Carey said: “This fundraiser has become a staple on our calendar of community and charity work.

“We're proud to work with Marymount and also honour Liam Miller.”

Bridie Miller - Liam’s mother - said: “We’re pleased that Cork City and Marymount are working together to remember Liam and to raise money for very worthwhile causes.”
