Cork boy with rare disease gets George Ezra tickets from generous radio caller

A generous radio caller has donated concert tickets to an Irish boy with a rare condition.

Mayfield, Cork boy Jerry Forrest, 10, has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disease that means the child's muscles will progressively weaken and waste away.

Jerry’s mum Dolores phoned in to Cork's 96FM this week and provided updates on how her son was doing.

After revealing that it looks like Jerry may need a wheelchair soon, she made a plea to locals on PJ Coogan's Opinion Line, Cork Beo reports.

While she holds out hope for improved research into the condition, Dolores is looking to make life as enjoyable as possible for Jerry, who takes a significant dose of steroids every morning.

She wanted to somehow get her hands on tickets to see pop singer George Ezra - Jerry's hero - for his upcoming gig in Musgrave Park.

Dolores missed out on tickets when they went on sale but, unable to break the news to her son and his friend Billy, she reached out to the listeners of 96FM in the hope that someone would be willing to sell their tickets for the June 20 concert.

Happily, a Scottish woman named Marna phoned in. She explained she was no longer able to use her three tickets, which she had bought for her daughters, and said she would be delighted to offer them to Dolores.

Marna also refused to be paid for the tickets, although Dolores insisted that the pair would argue it out when they meet in person.
