Corey Maggette passes Newport Coast home to new owner

Nov. 14--Former Los Angeles Clippers guard-forward Corey Maggette has sold his home in Newport Coast for $3.8 million.

The updated Mediterranean, on about a third of an acre in Pelican Heights, is entered through a vaulted foyer with a wrought iron staircase. The 4,800 square feet of living space includes a chef's kitchen, a formal dining room, a media room, five bedrooms and five full bathrooms.

Features include a great room lined in custom cabinetry and a master suite complete with a soaking tub, sitting room and fireplace.

Outdoors, a covered patio centers on canyon views. An expansive stretch of lawn and a sitting area with a barbecue and fireplace complete the setting.

The 35-year-old spent eight seasons with the Clippers, averaging a career-best 22.2 points and six rebounds per game during the 2004-05 campaign. He last played for the Detroit Pistons in 2013.

Maggette had asked about $4 million for the property when he put it on the market toward the end of July. He paid $3 million for the home in 2011, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Roxanne Nelson of Keller Williams Beverly Hills was the listing agent.

The property is in close proximity to Kobe Bryant's Newport Coast home, which saw its asking price lowered to about $7.6 million in late September, down from about $8 million.
