Tributes have been paid to YouTube star Corey La Barrie, who died in a car crash on Sunday night.
La Barrie was out celebrating his 25th birthday in a McLaren sports car with Ink Master star Daniel Silva when the car reportedly crashed into a street sign and tree. Silva was subsequently arrested for murder, as reported by TMZ.
With his mother confirming on Instagram that La Barrie had died at the scene on Monday, tributes to La Barrie quickly poured in from across the internet, with YouTuber Rebecca Black leading tributes.
“Oh god...this makes me incredibly sad,” the “Friday” singer wrote. “Corey La Barrie was always kind and knew how to lift people up. Always brightened my day when I saw him. His friends really loved him so much, and I am so sorry to them, his family, and his supporters.”
YouTuber Ricky Dillon shared a lengthy Notes app message to La Barrie, writing: “This is to you Corey, I am so sorry. There’s not a word I can think of to describe how utterly unfair this is… you’ve been someone that I think of as a real genuine friend that I always knew I could go to anything for and trust or just have fun with.”
Fellow influencer Tana Mongeau tweeted: “Corey was one of the kindest kids I ever met in this city. My heart is heavy today..... to everyone he was close to, which I can truly think of SO many people... my heart is broken for you & if you need anything i’m a text away.”
This was echoed by video maker Luke Korns, who tweeted: “Rest In Peace, man. You were the chillest dude in the room, loved by all, and so welcoming to anyone new. This is shocking. :( the world will miss you @coreylabarrie.”
Meanwhile, gamer and video maker FaZe Adapt tweeted: “It’s so scary knowing at any second you could be gone...R.I.P. Corey La Barrie. Its f***ing tragic, I still can’t believe it.”
La Barrie had more than 335,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel and lived in an influencer house with fellow content creators Crawford Collins, JC Caylen and Chelsea Amaro.
