ST. PAUL, Minn. _ Corey Crawford is about to hit the road, which could be good news for the injured Blackhawks goalie.
Crawford will join the team in Arizona for its game Monday against the Coyotes, though he isn't expected to play until the following week at the earliest, coach Joel Quenneville said Saturday afternoon.
Crawford will be on the ice for the team's morning skate Monday and likely again Tuesday when the Hawks will be in Las Vegas.
It will be the first time Crawford will be with the team on the road since he was put on injured reserve with an upper-body injury Dec. 27, though he has been working out on the ice in Chicago.
"The fact he's going to be on the ice with our team the next couple morning skates will be good," Quenneville said.
Crawford last played Dec. 23, when he was pulled after allowing three goals on seven shots against the Devils.
He has a .929 save percentage and 2.27 goals-against average, both among league leaders, to go with a 16-9-2 record.
If and when Crawford does return, Quenneville said the team won't pin whatever playoff hopes it might have on him.
"Looking down the road, it's too far to even anticipate where we're gonna be (when he comes back)," Quenneville said. "We wouldn't expect him to be the one guy that's gonna get it all done."
