Corey Clement getting reps with Eagles 1st-team offense as he regains his explosiveness

The Philadelphia Eagles depth chart looks a lot different at the top this season, but one name remains consistent when it comes to valuable reps with the first team. The Eagles traded for Jordan Howard and drafted Miles Sanders in the second round, but Corey Clement is still a fixture on the depth chart and recently got reps with the first-team offense as he looks to return to form after a devastating knee injury last season.

Since returning from his ACL tear, Clement has regained his explosiveness, while running strong and with a purpose this summer. Clement told NBC Sports Philadelphia that he’s just relieved to no longer have to wear a brace.

I hate it,” he said with a laugh. “It feels like I got a little guy on my leg.

“Realizing that if my mobility is fine without it, it’s the mental part I gotta get over. I’m like, ‘I don’t need the brace, I don’t need the brace, I don’t need the brace.’ I have had good practice reps without it and that boosts my morale without it to show I can do it.

On Monday, Clement took 11-on-11 reps with the first team against the Ravens’ vaunted defense and he looked impressive while doing so. It’s unknown if Clement will play in Thursday’s preseason tilt against the Ravens, but he’s made it clear that he would like to.

“I want to play. I want to play football,” Clement said. “Just like B.G. (Brandon Graham) likes playing in the preseason, I like playing in the preseason. I don’t want to shy away from football. Football’s fun.”

The Eagles are hoping that Clement can give them three explosive backs that do several things well and all by committee.
