Cordon lifted in Nottingham's Old Market Square but man remains in hospital

Police have lifted a cordon that was set up in Nottingham's Old Market Square but a man still remains in hospital after the incident.

Emergency services had been at the scene in the city centre at around 3pm on Tuesday afternoon (June 8).

A man was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre following reports of a "medical emergency", EMAS confirmed.

Nottinghamshire Police’s Control Room Manager Tracey Hickman said on Tuesday, June 8: “Officers are assisting emergency services following a report of a man needing medical treatment in Old Market Square on Tuesday (8 June 2021) at around 3pm.

"A police cordon has been setup and officers will remain at the scene.”

The cordon was later lifted on Tuesday and the man remains in hospital.

An EMAS spokesperson added: "We received a call at 2.45pm, Tuesday, June 8 to Old Market Square to assist with a medical emergency. We sent a paramedic in an ambulance car and a crewed ambulance.

"We transported one patient to Queen’s Medical Centre."
