Cordon in place after thieves ram-raid Corbridge garage and make off with tobacco

A cordon is in place after a ram-raid at a Northumberland garage in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called just after 2am on Tuesday after two men unsuccessfully tried to get into Bishops Garage on Main Street in Corbridge.

After their first failed attempt, they then reversed a car into the building.

Officers say they made off with some tobacco before fleeing the scene.

Northumbria Police are asking anyone with any information to come forward.

A force spokesperson said: “At 2.15am today (Tuesday) we received a report of a break in at a garage in Corbridge. It was reported that two males had unsuccessfully tried to gain access to the Bishops Garage on Main Street.

"The men have then reversed a car in to the premises and once inside stolen a quantity of tobacco before fleeing the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police via the Tell us Something page quoting log NP-20211102-0050.”
