Corbyn blasts 'paralysed' Theresa May as 'unable to govern' in Brexit PMQs attack

Jeremy Corbyn today blasted Theresa May as "unable to govern" in a furious PMQs attack over Brexit .

Labour's leader branded the stubborn PM "paralysed" as she refused to abandon her twice-defeated Brexit deal.

MPs have taken matters out of the PM's hands and will hold "indicative votes" tonight on where next for Brexit.

Yet Theresa May has suggested she will not comply with the result - and will instead keep pushing her own plan.

Today she told MPs she may bring back her deal for a THIRD vote tomorrow or Friday after Tory rebels started to crack.

Meanwhile despite a delay, the UK is on course for a no deal Brexit on April 12 - unless Mrs May finds a deal, leaves with No Deal, revokes Article 50 or agrees a new "long" delay.

Mr Corbyn said homelessness, knife crime, and cuts-hit public services have all been "neglected" amid the chaos.

"This country is on hold while the government is in complete paralysis," he said.

"The Prime Minister is failing to deliver Brexit because she can’t build a consensus."

Instead of building consensus she is "stoking further division", Labour's leader said.

"She is frankly unable to govern," he added.

"Either listen, change course, or go. Which is it to be?"

The Prime Minister was blasted in PMQs by Remainers and Brexiteers alike.

Labour MP Chi Onwurah said: "Newcastle voted 50.7% 49.3 to Remain. It divided our city and I was determined we should not have to vote again.

"But this is a complete shambles: parliament gridlocked, government paralysed, businesses stalled, jobs lost, households stockpiling, our global reputation trashed and a Prime Minister incapable of holding her cabinet together - never mind the country.

"Will she not consider the possibility that she is making a terrible mistake?"

SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford said: "Does the PM feel no sense of responsibility for what she is about to do?"

SNP MP Stewart Hosie said the Prime Minister "is liable, responsible, culpable for the chaos".

And ahead of a showdown with her own MPs at 5pm tonight, Mr Hosie demanded to know when she will be resigning.

But Tory Brexiteer Andrew Bridgen blasted the Prime Minister for delaying Brexit.

Speaking of his constituents he said: "They are good people but they are not stupid people and they will never trust the Prime Minister again."

Meanwhile Brexit: Labour WILL back second referendum plan tonight in major Commons vote will be told to back a motion tonight calling for a second referendum on leaving the European Union.

Multiple sources confirmed to the Mirror that MPs will be whipped to back Margaret Beckett's proposal in tonight's "indicative votes".

The plan would force the government to hold a "confirmatory" public referendum on any Brexit plan that is agreed.

It follows a public row which saw senior figures publicly disagree over whether the party would back the call in tonight's Brexit votes.
