Coraline

Coraline videogame for Wii Photograph: PR

With the movie just out, Coraline the game is more a case of disappointment than delight. Visually striking and with atmospheric sound, once you get down to gameplay things head downhill at a frightening pace.

It's your basic adventure game, built around collecting buttons and solving puzzles with occasional tests of aim or memory. These mini games make bizarre use of the Nunchuk and are more of a distraction than essential to completing the game. The button collecting, meanwhile, serves no purpose at all, leaving you with a load of stylised locations, frustratingly random AI and an instantly forgettable game. Even kids who loved the movie will be bored to tears.
