Police are yet to find the weapon used to kill a tradie outside a Melbourne train station, a court has been told.
Cam Smith, 26, died from stab wounds during an altercation near the station at Seaford, in Melbourne's southeast, in November.
The carpenter was allegedly stabbed when he stepped in to defend his girlfriend after they were confronted by a group of four young people.
One member of the accused group, 21-year-old Scarlett Taylor, was arrested in November and charged with a string of offences linked to the incident including affray, unlawful assault and breaching bail conditions.
Taylor on Thursday faced Melbourne Magistrates Court via video link to apply for bail.
Detective Senior Constable James Edwards opposed the bail application.
He said the 21-year-old had previously breached bail conditions, was "hardly reliable" and posed an unacceptable risk to the safety of Mr Smith's former partner.
He also said authorities remained concerned Taylor may attempt to destroy or hide the weapon allegedly used to kill Mr Smith.
"Police could not locate the weapon used to kill Smith," Det Sen Con Edwards told the court.
Taylor's then-boyfriend, Jack Ledlin, has been charged with Mr Smith's murder while another man, Liam Casley, has been with assault and affray.
A 17-year-old from Frankston was also charged with affray, intentionally causing injury and committing offences while on bail over the incident.
Court documents allege Ledlin and the three others engaged in an "unprovoked attack" against Mr Smith and his partner.
Taylor's bail application will next be heard on April 15.
