Transport cops have welcomed the conviction of a creep who groped a woman under a table on a late-night Scots train.
Brian Houston had admitted a charge of sexual assault, and that he had repeatedly handled the woman’s thighs and private parts over her clothing during the journey between Edinburgh Park and Stirling.
The 37-year-old from Stirling, was convicted at Stirling Sheriff Court of sexual assault under the Sexual Offence (Scotland) Act 2010 Section 3 on the 21st July.
He was sentenced to two years community supervision which includes a community payback order and he was placed on the sex offence register during this period.
On 20th March 2019 Houston was travelling on a train between Edinburgh Park and Stirling at around 11.30am, when he subjected a 44-year-old woman to a sexual assault.
The victim reported it to police who then launched a full investigation.
BTP Detective Constable Donna Davanna said: “Sexual offending will absolutely not be tolerated on the rail network. Everyone has the right to travel and feel safe.
“We will always take reports of sexual offences seriously, and in this case were able to quickly arrest the suspect after the victim reported the offence to us.
"Following our media appeal, I’d like to thank the members of the public who came forward and identified Houston. We were then able to bring him before the courts.
