Cops warn Scots cannabis growers snow will help expose hidden farms

Cops have warned cannabis growers that wintry weather might catch out their criminal activity.

With snow falling across the country and temperatures plummeting, one police force took to social media to warn criminals their cannabis plantation might not be as well hidden as they think.

Levenmouth Police tweeted a picture of a snow covered house with a large melted patch in the middle of the roof - caused by the high temperatures needed to grow the Class B drug.

Alongside the picture they wrote: "As temperatures drop, take care on those roads and mind yer cannabis plantation might no be as well hidden tae..

The picture used by the force is of a cannabis farm in the Netherlands that was found due to the melted snow technique.

The warning comes after a suspected cannabis farm was found on Leith Walk in Edinburgh on Tuesday.

Officers were spotted on the scene carrying large bags of evidence from the property.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested and due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.
