Oct. 30--Police said at least two armed robbers have been approaching victims from behind before taking their valuables on the South Side in the city's Chatham neighborhood.
The men walk up to their victims, display a handgun, then demand money or anything of value, police said.
The first robbery happened Oct. 7 about 8:15 a.m. in the 7900 block of South State Street About 5:30 a.m. Oct. 9, the duo struck again in the 0 to 100 block of West 79th Street.
The next two robberies occurred Oct. 12. About 2:45 p.m. that day, a person was robbed in the 300 block of West 80th Street. Hours later at about 8:20 p.m., another person was robbed near a restaurant in the 100 block of East 79th Street, police said.
The last robbery happened Oct. 26 about 4 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Indiana Avenue, police said.
Police said the robbers are between 18 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches to 6 feet tall, and weigh 140 to 190 pounds. One has dreadlocks or braids, and the other has short hair.
In one instance, the two fled in a red Chevy Blazer and in another they were driving a silver compact car, police said.
