Oct. 26--Chicago police are warning residents of the Lakeview area about a recent spate of armed robberies earlier this month.
The robberies happened in the Town Hall police district on Oct. 19 and Saturday, police said.
According to police, the robberies happened as the victims were on the street and the men approached them and either displayed a handgun or implied they had a gun, police said.
The first robbery happened on the 1400 block of West Irving Park Road on at 2:20 p.m. Oct. 19, police said.
Then on Saturday, two separate robberies were reported, including a robbery on the 1300 block of West Henderson Street at 6:10 a.m. A second robbery happened on the 800 block of West Wrightwood Avenue at 6:30 a.m., police said.
In the incident on Irving Park, the offenders were described as being black men, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall. They were each about 150 pounds. One of the men wore a black and red hooded sweatshirt, and one wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said.
In the Henderson incident, the three offenders were described as being black, 25 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and all were wearing baseball caps.
In the Wrightwood Avenue incident, one offender was a black man 20 to 25 years of age. He was described as being 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall. He had a gray hooded sweatshirt. The other man was described as a black man, 20 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He had a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.
