Cops warn crooks are targeting transit vans across Lanarkshire

Police have issued a stark warning following a spate of white van thefts across Lanarkshire.

Thieves appear to be targeting white vans in the county with a number being stolen in the county yesterday.

Drivers are being advised to stay vigilant, secure all vehicles and report suspicious activity, particularly around commercial vehicles, to 101 without delay.

In East Kilbride, two white Ford transit vans were nicked from local industrial estates between January 2 and 3, and on January 5, at Peel Park Place and Hawbank Road respectively.

Another white Ford transit van was stolen between January 3 and 6 at Eaglesham Road and one was taken from Hamilton Road Industrial Estate in Strathaven between January 1 and 6.

Then at around 10.40pm on January 5 at Glenfield Road, Kelvin Industrial Estate thieves drove off in a grey Ford Connect.

And on January 4, 150L and a digging bucking was stolen from a construction site on Jackton Road.

Police said they are deploying additional patrols throughout the night at all industrial estates within East Kilbride and Strathaven.
