Cops swoop on Scots industrial estate after £60,000 car heist at showroom 150 miles away

Police swooped on a Scots industrial estate after flash cars were stolen in a 'daring heist' at a showroom more than 150 miles away.

On January 14 Hawco Garage in Elgin, Moray was robbed of luxury cars totalling £60,000.

During the raid at 12.30am a black Volkswagen T-Roc, a grey Volkswagen Golf, and a red Audi A3 were taken.

Last night pictures emerged of a heavy police presence at the Bellknowes Industrial Estate, Inverkeithing, Fife.

Today the force said a 25-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with theft by housebreaking at the Elgin incident.

A police spokeswoman told the Record that police activity in the area last night had been in connection with the probe into the stolen vehicles.

It is unclear if the arrest was made on the industrial estate.

A spokeswoman said: "With reference to our previous appeal after three cars were stolen from a car showroom in Elgin on Thursday, 14 January, 2021, please note:

"A 25 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with theft by housebreaking. He is due before Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday, 28 January, 2021.

"Police enquiries are continuing.

"A full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
