Cops swoop on Edinburgh leisure centre after man seriously injured in assault

A man has been seriously hurt after an assault near a leisure centre in Edinburgh.

Police and paramedics rushed to the Parkgrove Green area of the city after reports of the incident at around 10am on Tuesday, May 19.

The 39-year-old man was raced to hospital after suffering serious injuries.

Officers from Police Scotland are now probing the incident as they remain at the scene.

Pictures from the scene show a number of cops accompanied by sniffer dogs as they comb the area around the Drumbrae Leisure Centre.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 10am on Tuesday, 19 May, officers in Edinburgh were called to reports of a serious assault in the Parkgrove Green area of the city.

“A 39-year-old man suffered serious injury and has been taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Enquires into the circumstances are ongoing.”
