Cops shocked as entire campsite left behind by louts at Scots loch

Louts have been blasted for leaving behind an entire campsite full of litter at a picturesque Scots loch.

Reports of litter being left at beauty spots have been increasing since the easing of lockdown restrictions allowed Scots more freedom to travel.

And cops in the Highlands were stunned to find a tent and camping equipment left behind at Loch Arkaig, near Lochaber.

A statement from the Highlands Division reads: "Loch Arkaig is stunning throughout the year and particularly so during the recent good weather.

"It makes it all the more disheartening that individuals and groups choose to leave not just litter but in this instance a full campsite behind.

"If you are visiting our nations many natural attractions (bearing in mind the current lockdown regulations and travel restrictions) please remember to take everything you bring with you home and leave it as it was found.

"We encourage the public to follow The Scottish Government guidance on travel to protect the NHS and save lives."

One local on social media said that the problem pre-dated the lockdown.

He wrote: "This is not a lockdown problem, it has been an issue for years.

"It could be tourists or locals.

"I’ve seen people driving and dropping litter out of their vehicles and they have local registrations and don’t get me started on irresponsible dog owners who happily leave their pet’s waste behind."
