Cops seize massive £60k haul of crack cocaine and heroin destined for Aberdeen as two people arrested

Two people have been charged after cops seized £60k worth of cocaine and heroin destined for the streets of Aberdeen.

British Transport Police officers stopped the man and woman at Wigan North Western railway station on Wednesday as part of their county lines crackdown.

The duo, who were travelling from Liverpool to the North East, were searched and found to be in possession of drugs worth the estimated five-figure sum.

The crack cocaine and heroin is believed to be worth £60,000 (British Transport Police)

Pictures of the massive haul show the drugs separated into more than a dozen separate bags which vary in size.

Officers have now confirmed that a 37-year-old man and 36-year-old woman have been charged on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

They both appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 14.

A BTP spokesperson said: “ The seizure was part of an operation by the BTP’s County Lines Task Force to tackle drugs on the railway network, and to protect children and vulnerable adults who are often exploited by gangs into selling or moving drugs.”
