Cops seize half a million of weed and thousands in cash after raids in Scottish borders

Cops have seized nearly half a million pounds of weed and thousands in cash during raids in the Scottish borders.

Police Scotland say they found cannabis with a street value of around £475,000 and a 'four-figure sum' of cash following the raids on homes in Hawick.

The recoveries took place at properties in the Rosevale Street, Duke Street and Princes Street areas, at around 10am yesterday, June 16.

Two men, aged 36 and 37, have been arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences and appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court Tuesday, 16, June 2020.

Sergeant David Rourke, from the Community Action Team, said: “Drug misuse brings nothing but misery to our communities and I want to reassure people that we will continue to use every tool at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from the community.

“These efforts have continued throughout the ongoing pandemic and offenders should not believe themselves to be beyond the reach of the law.

“Our work often relies on the support of the public, so if you have any information or concerns about drug misuse, do not hesitate to contact Police Scotland on 101 or report this anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
