Cops seize 1200 cannabis plants worth $4m

Some 1200 cannabis plants were found growing in six greenhouses at a regional NSW property. (AAP)

A NSW man may go from the greenhouse to the big house after police discovered 1200 cannabis plants at a property in regional NSW.

The 55-year-old man was arrested as police seized the plants in dawn raids on Wednesday.

The cannabis, which has an estimated street value of nearly $4.4 million, was growing in six greenhouses at a property at Douglas Park, southwest of Sydney.

The man is facing five charges, including cultivating commercial quantities of a prohibited plant and participating in a criminal group.

Police will argue he is part of a criminal syndicate and was using the property to grow cannabis to supply commercially.

The arrest is part of a nearly two-year investigation into the growing and selling of cannabis across NSW.

In the past three months alone, Strike Force Harthouse has executed five search warrants and seized cannabis worth more than $10 million.

The man was due to appear at Picton Local Court on Thursday.
