Cops searching for missing Scot Gordon Proctor find car abandoned in Turnberry

Police searching for a missing Scot have found his car abandoned in South Ayrshire.

Concern is growing for Gordon Proctor who was reported missing from Netherlee.

The 65-year-old was last seen around 11.15am in East Renfrewshire on Tuesday, July 6.

Cops confirmed his white Renault Kadjar car has been recovered in the Turnberry area of South Ayrshire.

Extensive searches are currently underway to try and locate Gordon, whose disappearance has been described as out of character.

He is described as being 6ft tall and of slim build with short brown hair. When he was last seen he was wearing a lilac polo shirt, a blue jumper and cream shorts.

Sergeant Steven Woodley of Ayr Police Station said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Gordon’s welfare as time passes.

“Extensive search activity has been carried out around the Turnberry area and other police enquiries aimed at tracing him are ongoing. It is out of character for him to be out of contact with his family for so long and we are keeping them informed as our enquiries continue.

“We would urge anyone who believes they may have seen Gordon at any time since the early afternoon of Tuesday, 6 July to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 2460 of 6 July.”
