BRIEF: Good Samaritan helps missing Spring Grove man contact family

July 26--Police said a good Samaritan helped an elderly man call his family after he was reported missing from north suburban Spring Grove.

Lake County officials had issued an alert about an 82-year-old man with medical issues who was reported missing about 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Donald Ukleja was last seen driving a 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with Illinois plates, according to the alert. He was headed to Ringwood to pick up his grandson from work, police said. Ukleja is diabetic and has dementia along with other medical issues, police said.

About 9:40 p.m. Saturday, Ukleja was spotted in Chicago in the area of the Chicago Yacht Club on the 400 block of East Monroe Street. His vehicle had run out of gas, and a good Samaritan let him use his cellphone to call his family, police said.

After Ukleja called his family, they immediately called authorities, who responded to the scene. Soon after, he was united with his relatives, who took him to a hospital for evaluation, police said.
