An urgent search has been launched for an 88-year-old man who failed to return to his Aberdeen home.

Donald Chalmers was last seen in the Westhill area of the city on Sunday night before the alarm was raised with police.

Officers believe he may have travelled to the beach Esplanade area of Aberdeen which is currently being searched.

Coastguard crews have been drafted in to try to help find the pensioner as concern for his welfare continues to grow.

Donald is described as being white, 5ft 5in tall, of a slim build and wears glasses.

Members of the public are being asked to contact police if they’ve seen him.
