Cops say 'no risk to public safety' after Scot mowed down by car later abandoned at Aldi

Cops have confirmed there is no risk to public safety following an attempted murder on Tuesday.

Officers reassured local residents that there is no wider threat to the public after a 35-year-old man was mowed down by a car while he was walking on Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow

Police say they are following a positive line of enquiry (Daily Record)

The car was later found on Greenlaw Way, Newton Mearns, near Aldi after the driver mounted the pavement and fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and later released.

Police are currently treating the incident as attempted murder and are hunting for the driver.

A Police Scotland statement said: "Further to recent reported incidents in Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow and Greenlaw Way, Newton Mearns, we would like to again reassure residents that there remains no risk to public safety.
