Police probing a gun attack on a house have said a child walking a dog at 1.30am may be able to help solve the crime.
Officers say they are keen to speak to a youngster, who is believed to have been walking with the pooch and another man at the time of the shooting.
We told today how neighbours believed the window pane being blasted with a firearm in Glencoats Drive, Paisley, near Glasgow, was actually a firework being set off.
The crazed gunman responsible for the shooting, which did not leave anyone injured, fled the scene after discharging the firearm.
On day one of the police probe, much of the road was taped off as specialist forensics cops in white overalls scoured the area for clues and photographed the crime scene.
They appeared to be focusing on a lane, at the back of the house, leading to Glencoats Park.
And Detectives from Police Scotland have now revealed their latest line of inquiry in to the shooting, which took place in the town's tough Ferguslie Park area in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Detective Inspector Ian Ross, of Paisley CID, said: "Enquiries so far confirm that a firearm was discharged at a property.
"Thankfully nobody was injured as a result of this reckless act.
"We also believe a dark-coloured vehicle was in the area shortly before the firearm was discharged and left immediately after.
"We continue to appeal for information and I am particularly keen to speak to two people who were walking a dog on the street at the time - believed to be two males, one possibly a child.
"It's possible they may have heard or witnessed the incident.
"Local residents will continue to see a highly visible police presence in the area whilst our enquiries continue.
"If you have any concerns or information in connection, please do speak to our officers who will be carrying out patrols."
