Cops release CCTV in hunt for firebug who started blaze at Scots railway station

Officers investigating a blaze at a South Lanarkshire railway station have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

A platform bin at Thorntonhall station and the fence of a neighbouring residential property caught fire on Saturday, May 21, between 7.30pm and 8pm.

A man, who is described as being in his mid-20s to early-30s, was seen in the area around the time with officers keen to identify him.

He was wearing a black Nike hooded jumper with a red Nike logo, black cargo bottoms, a pair of black Adidas trainers and was carrying a black Adidas backpack.

He is described as being of a medium build, of average height and had a shaved head.

They are asking anyone who recognises him to get in touch as soon as possible.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
