Cops race to three-car crash on busy Scots road

Emergency services have been called to the busy Fife road after three cars crashed amid stormy weather.

Officers were called to the A911 between Glenrothes and Windygates at around 11.35am on Saturday when the alarm was raised.

The carriageway near the Markinch junction remains blocked with police currently at the scene.

It is not known if any one was injured during the collision but fellow motorists warned of building traffic in the surrounding area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.35am on Saturday, 26 December, police were called to a report of a three car road crash on the A911 at the Markinch junction.

“Officers are at the scene.”

Heavy rains and strong gusts of wind are being seen across Scotland as Storm Bella takes hold.

Drivers are being urged to use caution due to a high volume of surface water and freak flash flooding while a yellow weather warning remains in place.
