A 'fire' has broken out in a block of flats in Glasgow.

A 'huge' police presence has been spotted and thick smoke seen escaping from a flat window.

Clarkston Road in the Cathcart area has been reportedly closed to all oncoming traffic with pictures showing a large number of officers.

Meanwhile a video on Twitter shows smoke coming from a window of a block of flats nearby.

It is unclear what the incident is at this stage.

Andrew Thomas tweeted: "Huge police presence in Cathcart. Clarkston road closed to all oncoming traffics, being diverted up Newlands road."

Susan Kelso tweeted: "Smoke can be seen pouring from this window. #Cathcart #Fire"

Another tweet added: "Fire in flats. Opposite the shops."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 11.15am on Sunday, police were called to a fire at a flat in Clarkston Road, Glasgow.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed between Struan Road and Holmlea Road.

"The building has been evacuated and there are no reports of any injuries.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."
