Cops race to Glasgow street as area taped off amid ongoing incident

Cops have taped off a Glasgow street today as they respond to a 'disturbance' in Glasgow.

Officers from Police Scotland have been seen around Shamrock Street and New City Road in the Cowcaddens area of the city.

An area stretching between the two streets, and close to a shopping arcade, has been sealed off while police investigate.

It is unclear exactly what the nature of the disturbance was and if anyone has been hurt.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 11.55am on Monday, 5 October, police in Glasgow were called to reports of a disturbance on Shamrock Street.

“Officers are currently in attendance and Scott Street to Shamrock Street and Shamrock Street to New City Road are closed whilst enquiries are carried out.

"Anyone who was in the Shamrock Street area around the time of this incident and who may have seen anything is asked to contact police as soon as possible on 101 quoting reference number 1217 of Monday, 5 October, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
