Cops race to Glasgow street after reports of men brandishing swords

Police raced to a Glasgow street following reports of a disturbance involving men brandishing swords.

Cops swooped on Annandale Street in the Govanhill area of the city in the early hours of Thursday morning after the alarm was raised.

A search of the area was carried out but officers found no sign of a disturbance or weapons.

A police spokeswoman said: "Around 12.30am on Thursday 4th April police were called to reports of a disturbance on Annandale Street, Glasgow.

"Officers attended and a search of the area was carried out with no trace."

Meanwhile, Glasgow police have appealed for information after a man was stabbed in broad daylight.

The 41-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in the city after the incident on Heathcot Avenue, Drumchapel at around 11.20am on Wednesday morning.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 11.20am on April 3, police were called to a report of a 41 year old man seriously injured on Heathcot Avenue, Drumchapel.

"He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth university Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101."
