Cops race to Edinburgh park and seal off scene after early morning attack

Cops in Edinburgh have sealed off a park following an attack in the early hours of the morning.

The alarm was raised shortly before 3am this morning when police were called to reports of an assault in the Dalmeny Street Park area.

The park has been sealed off with a probe launched to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

It's understood the victim, whose age is not yet known, did not sustain "life-threatening" injuries in the attack.

Edinburgh Live reports one police vehicle was still parked on the street, in the Leith area of the city, at around 9am on Thursday morning.

There is also an additional police presence in the area as enquiries are carried out.

"Police received a report of an assault around 2.55am on Thursday, 8 July, 2021 in Dalmeny Street Park area of Edinburgh.

"Officers are currently conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
