Cops race to East Kilbride after reports of injured person by rail tracks

Transport police raced to East Kilbride last night after reports of a person injured by the tracks.

Officers and an ambulance were seen near to Hairmyres station following the incident shortly after 9.30pm.

Services between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride were disrupted with the line closed for a period and services terminating at Busby.

It is understood the incident took place near to Peel Park Road.

At the time, ScotRail Tweeted: "We've had reports of an incident ongoing between East Kilbride and Busby.

"We're assisting the emergency services and will update you once we have more from the scene."

A spokeswoman for the British Transport Police told Lanarkshire Live : "Officers were called to the line near East Kilbride at 9.34pm yesterday (July 19) following reports of an injured person by the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening."
